I don't want to be handled

True freedom begins when you decide not to obey without questioning.

I don't want to be handled
I don't want to be handled Fran Laviada

"I don't want to be a puppet moved by strings held by those big shots!" is the line spoken by the protagonist of the film The Godfather, Vito Corleone, masterfully played by one of the greatest actors in the history of cinema, Marlon Brando.

Well, I'll say it too:

I don't want to be a puppet handled by the powerful! (Or by anyone else, for that matter).

And I add:

I don't want anyone telling me what I have to do. Especially when those doing the telling have proven themselves incapable of handling what is actually their own responsibility.

How is such incoherence even possible?

I don't want constant advice. When I need it, I'll ask the person I deem appropriate.

I don't like those who are always telling you which path to take. Because they never lead from the front; they don't even dare to take the first step.

I do not accept impositions of any kind. Least of all from those who are themselves submissive and permissive toward the established powers.

I don't believe in the right of might, but in the might of right. Strength is always found in the word and in the non-coercive power of conviction.

I have no reason to bow my head before anyone, nor to say amen to everything. That "Yes, Bwana!" business (which has been mentioned before)—let's leave that for jungle adventure movies. If anyone is going to say it, let it be Tarzan.

I never want to walk on my knees. If I must die, let it be on my feet.

I don't have to keep quiet when I'm right. And when I'm not, I don't have to either; I am free to express my opinions even if I am mistaken.

No one can force me to do what I don't want to do, or what goes against my principles. Human beings have the right to be born, live, and die free, without anyone's impositions.

No one is better than anyone else; the days of class privileges and high-sounding surnames are over. In the 21st century, the feudal traditions of lords and vassals are long outdated.

I don't want to be a doll, or a puppet, or a marionette... I alone pull the strings of my life, not others.
